WELCOME CHOSEN ONE TO THE NEXT AND FINAL LEVEL...PLEASE READ FURTHER IF YOU DARE!
Okay just a little dramatic, but heck, it's not every day you apply to be a ghost hunter, right?
So, a little about the team. We have been conducting paranormal investigations and research in and around Santa Cruz and the Central Coast since 2009 and became formally established in 2010. The team has primarily remained with the same team-mates for at least the last 10 years, and some as long as 15 years... or at least until the end of the world as we know it occurred, and the zombie apocalypse created a pandemic, causing havoc in everyone's lives, and some ended up in different directions...while others in different dimensions...Oh, wait... sorry, I got carried away. That was actually the COVID 19 pandemic...or wait was that Corona? Nope that's beer....wait..same thing. Meh, close enough...You get the idea.
As a result, much of the team either moved, retired, or got lost in an alternate reality... so, as a result, we are looking for teammates that will be a good fit for our NEW crew. But keep in mind, not only are we investigators and researchers, but we have also become good friends over the years, and on occasion, we will mingle together just for the fun of it—or, more realistically, because we clearly have nothing better to do and would prefer doing it together...lol.
So, with that said, we are looking for someone who fits in with the team—someone who has the right vibe, gets along with everyone, and genuinely enjoys being part of the crew. But we're also looking for someone who can bring something to the table: a skill, experience, or knowledge that complements the team and adds something beneficial to what we already do.
This is a volunteer position; no one gets a salary, medical benefits, 401(k), retirement, and definitely no life insurance... but we will investigate you if you have an untimely demise... that' a promise!
No one went to a formal school for this; however, we all bring a unique skill or educational specialty to the team from our day jobs—videographer, librarian/researcher, law enforcement, cemetery preservationist, psychology... etc. And we all share unique personal experiences, related to the paranormal, that in one way or another contributed to our interest in exploring the spirits outside the comfort of our living rooms & remote controls.
So, with that said - time for a little Q & A of Frequently Asked Questions! ..."Hooray!"
Q: Do I have to have prior experience as a paranormal investigator?
A: No, you don't have to. Although it would be helpful, because you're working with a team that has nearly 20 years' experience under their belt, ...and sadly newbies always LOVE orbs, everything is an orb...the bug is an orb, the dust is an orb, a leaky ceiling ...orb...grampas picture is casting a creepy reflection in the mirror...Must be an Orb! ... Hence, we DO NOT get excited about orbs! Now does that mean every abnormality in an image has an explanation. No, but that's another story to share later...lol. We were all newbies at one time too. You just have to be willing to learn and take constructive criticism from time to time.
Q: So, most of these encounters are harmless right? Their just people in soul form, nothing will follow me home and start having my pets levitating off the ground like in the movies, right?
A: Although NOT everything is white light, positive energy, fairies and pink unicorns. Otherwise, these energies wouldn't be stuck here and people complaining about activity in their homes. Often times we could be simply dealing with an angry entity who became stuck - is grumpy or was just not a happy person in life and needs help moving forward. However, it does not mean you should invite them home, like... "Hey, come home with me and let's be roommates". And if you do, and your pet starts levitating off the ground, definitely call me! - I would love to see that!
Q: So, I notice you do a lot of history stories. History isn't my thing; will I have to take a history lesson?
A: YES! You most certainly will! --- No. You won't have to go back to school. However, we do dive into a realm of history not always looked at and by knowing the history, you learn what may have occurred and what is leading to the potential activity. However, your role is not to be a historian. Those positions are already taken.
Q: What about evil things, their fake right?
A: OH - well, not to scare you but those things are very real - but also very rare. This is why you never invite anything home with you - they are not always Casper! Demonic energies or 'things' as I call them, do exist. Although again it is a rare phenomenon. I have only encountered this phenomenon once and hopefully never again. Most spirits are human and benign. But this is another story for our potential 'chosen one" as these are things not everyone should know about. "And again...definitely call me if your pet is levitating off the ground, I haven't seen that one yet."
Q: Do I have to believe in the paranormal to do this with you?
A: Well, that's an odd question considering the theme of this, but a good one! Truth be told, we do like skepticism. Our goal first is to prove that something natural is likely going on that is being experienced. Then when we can rule that out, we investigate for the supernatural. So, a healthy amount of skepticism is welcomed, we all have it. But a healthy open mind is also necessary.
Q: So, do you help people or is this just for fun?
A: YES! The objective is to help people and the entities or energies that maybe stuck on this side. Often, we do private cases, that are a result of a homicide, suicide or tragedy and the family members are experiencing activity, and they need our help to cross over a loved one. These are very sensitive cases, and the goal is to help the families and the loved one. However, not all is doom & gloom, you will find entities, that are happy right where they are at and even have a sense of humor, their personalities in life are reflective in death, and like to play pranks...so there are many times, that it can just be a lot of fun.
Q: Will I need to travel?
A: Yes! To a galaxy far...far away!! - No. Typically we cater to Santa Cruz County, so mostly local travel - on occasion we may travel outside of Santa Cruz, so a vehicle is a definite must! We are not an Uber service; however, we have ride shared with one another on an out-of-town expedition. On occasion we will fly out of state on a very special adventure. And no, we will not pay your expenses, that is something you have to decide if you want to go on and pay your own way.
Q: Will I be on TV?
A: It's possible, we do have contacts with the Travel / Discovery Channel and random film makers; often we are approached, by magazines, podcasts, authors, radio and other forms of news media, so you may not necessarily be on TV, but you may have an opportunity to be in the public eye on occasion.
Q: How often do you do cases?
A: It varies, some seasons we won't have anything for a couple months and then suddenly, boom! We will have several booked up for the next few months.
Q: Is October your busiest month?
A: No. Not necessarily. Yes, it does get busier, but a lot of times that is due to events or journalists who want to write a story for Halloween. Actual investigations can occur any time throughout the year.
Q: Will I get paid thousands of dollars to do this with you guys?
A: Again, Nooooooo...but I wish it would happen. We are all volunteers and we do it because we enjoy it and we want to help others.
Q: Is it like T.V and you constantly are interacting?
A: Noooo...that's why it is T.V. An actual paranormal investigation can often be quit boring. Infact, we find that it may take a few times to investigate the same location before even a -known active location -will warm up to us and start interacting. So, some nights we may get nothing at all, all the while looking like total lunatics talking to ourselves as we sit in the dark waiting for the walls to breathe, and then other nights our equipment will be off the hook, as well as our physical environment; shadows will be seen, unexplainable voices, an object moves and even your hair getting pulled....although I still have not seen the dog levitate off the ground.
Q: Do you do this as a regular job?
A: No….we all have day jobs, and all of our day jobs, education or real word experiences combines nicely with what we contribute to the paranormal research field.
Q: Will I lose every free weekend I have to work with the team?
A: No. As investigations arise, we all agree on a date that is doable for the team. However, if the majority can attend and one is unavailable, the majority wins! And odd man out, sorry you just won't go on this one.
Q: Can I bring my spouse, kids, best friend, and dog on an investigation?
A: Noooo….none of the above, unless your dog is a cadaver dog, then I will definitely consider it; or perhaps if it levitates off the ground - then it is a must bring!
Q: Can I brag about the investigation online and amongst my friends before we do it and before it is published or released?
A: Absolutely NOT! Some cases have strict confidentiality because they are a private residence and sensitive in nature. Other cases that are contracted to be made public, are NOT allowed to be divulged, until they have been completed. Once completed, you will have bragging rights. We have contracts with our clients, that we honor. We also have competitors that have no honor- so confidentiality is a must!
Q: Do I need equipment?
A: It will depend on your role. We each acquire our own equipment. And we do have a decent size selection of inhouse equipment for field investigators.
Q: How do I apply?
A: Email us! Tell us, about yourself, your experience, what you can bring to the team, what your day job is, why you want to do this, your availability, last time your pet levitated from the ground, etc...you know the usual. If you sound like a good fit, we will have you meet us for a personal interview and get more in depth then. Typically, we will not know if you're a good fit to be on the team until we leave you alone in a haunted building by yourself and see how long it takes before you run out...lol...just kidding... Maybe...
Q: Where do I email you?

Good Luck and Happy Hunting!
