WELCOME TO THE NEXT LEVEL...PLEASE READ FURTHER IF YOU DARE!
Okay just a little dramatic, but heck, its not every day you apply to be a ghost hunter, right?
So a little about the team. We have been conducting paranormal investigations in and around Santa Cruz for over 10 years now. The team has primarily remained with its same mates, for at least the last 8 years until 2021, or at least until the end of the world as we know it, came crashing down and everyone's lives changed.
We are looking for team mates that will be a good fit, for our crew. Not only are we investigators, but we have become good friends over the years and occasionally mingle together just for fun. We are also looking for someone, that can bring something , maybe a skill or other knowledge that compliments them and benefits the team.
This is a volunteer position, no one gets a salary or medical benefits, 401 K, life insurance, retirement, well you get the idea. No one went to school for this. We all kind of came together, each with a unique personal experience or experiences, related to the paranormal, that led us to explore the spirits outside the comfort of our living rooms & remote controls.
So time for the Q & A - of - Frequently Asked Questions. "Bwa-ha-ha"
Q: Do I have to have prior experience as a paranormal investigator?
A: No you don't have to. Although it would be helpful, because your working with a team that has 10+ years under their belt, and newbies always love orbs, everything is an orb. (We do not get excited about orbs, but that's another story to share later...lol) We were all newbies at one time too. You just have to be willing to learn and take constructive criticism from time to time.
Q: So I am just going to be around good ghosts right, nothing will follow me home and start having my pets levitating off the ground like in the movies right?
A: WRONG! Not everything is white light, positive energy, fairies and pink unicorns. Otherwise, these spirits wouldn't be stuck here and people complaining about activity in their homes. Often times you could be dealing with an angry spirit because its stuck, or a person that was just an asshole in life and still is. However, the likely hood of your pet levitating off the ground, is pretty slim, but definitely call me if it happens - I would love to see that!
Q: So I notice you do a lot of history stories. History isn't my thing, will I have to take a history lesson?
A: YES! You most certainly will! --- No! You wont have to go back to school. However, we dive into a realm of history not always looked at, and by knowing the history, you learn what may have occurred, that is leading to a potential haunting. However, your role is not to be a historian. Those positions are taken.
Q: What about evil things, their fake right?
A: OH - Is that what you meant? WRONG! Those things are very real - but rare. This is why you never invite anything home with you - they are not always Casper! Demons do exist. Although again it is rare. But that's another story for our potential 'chosen one" as these are things not everyone should know about. "And definitely call me if your pet is levitating off the ground, I haven't seen that one yet."
Q: So do you help people or is this just for fun?
A: YES! The objective is to help people and entities that maybe stuck on this side. Often we do private cases, that are a result of a homicide or tragedy with family members experiencing activity - these are very sensitive cases and the goal is to help. However, not all is doom & gloom, you will find entities, that are happy where they are at and even have a sense of humor, so there are many times, that it can just be a lot of fun.
Q: Will I need to travel?
A: Yes! To a galaxy far, far away!! - No, typically we cater to Santa Cruz County, so mostly local travel - on occasion we may travel outside of Santa Cruz, so a vehicle is a definite must!
Q: Will I be on TV?
A: Its possible, we do have contacts with the Travel Channel and often are approached, by magazines, podcasts, radio and other forms of news media, so you may not necessarily be on TV, but you may have an opportunity to be in the public eye on occasion.
Q: How often do you do cases?
A: It varies, some seasons we wont have anything for a couple months and then suddenly we will have several booked up for the next few months.
Q: Will I get paid thousands of dollars to do this with you guys?
A: Again, Nooooooo….but I wish it would happen. We are all volunteers.
Q: Do you do this as a regular job?
A: No….we all have day jobs, 1 of us works for city, 1 of us for county & 1 of us retired cop.
Q: Will I lose every free weekend I have to work with the team?
A: No. As investigations arise, we all agree on a date that is doable for team. However, if the majority can attend and one is unavailable, the majority wins! And odd man out, just wont go.
Q: Can I bring my spouse, kids, best friend, and dog on an investigation?
A: Noooo….none of the above, unless your dog is a cadaver dog, then I will definitely consider it.
Q: Can I brag about the investigation on line and amongst my friends before we do it and before it is published or released?
A: Absolutely NOT! Some cases have strict confidentiality because they are private residence and sensitive in nature. Other cases that will be made public, are NOT allowed to be divulged, until they have been completed. Once completed, you will have bragging rights then. We have contracts with our clients, that we honor.
Q: Do I need equipment?
A: It will depend on your role. We each acquire our own equipment. And we do have a decent size selection of inhouse equipment.
Q: How do I apply?
A: Email us! Tell us, about your self, your experience, what you can bring to the team, what your day job is, why you want to do this, your availability, last time your pet levitated from the ground, etc...you know the usual. If you sound like a good fit, we will have you meet us for a personal interview and get more in depth then.
